Vision can change your world

LASER SURGERY € 595 p / eye, HOW IS POSSIBLE?

This is certainly a fair question, what happens is that the answer is not so easy.

The philosophy of I-QMED Clinic is to offer a quality service at an attractive price. Surgery to € 595 p / eye allows a greater number of people can have access to this treatment without their finances become too "weak", and not to resort to bank loans. Of course we could raise prices but then we would be fewer treatments and create greater difficulties for those who actually earn less. Another important aspect is that once the price is affordable might arise the suspicion that the quality might not be the best, here is the invitation to visit us. If you consider that € 595 is a very low price, we can always increase the price for their treatment. :)

In another clinic led by the same surgeon and located in Holland, more precisely in Amsterdam, we also have the price of € 595 per eye www.eyeqvision.nl. This price has been maintained both in Portugal and the Netherlands since 2003, and with thousands of surgeries done.

"Quality need not be expensive"

There are several techniques for getting the laser treatment. The Laser turns out to be always the same, what differs is how the doctor prepares the cornea so the laser can act on it. When the laser is not possible is then envisaged the possibility to implant intraocular lenses.

LASIK - LASEK - EQLASE - LENS IMPLANTATION

Will be informed about the differences between each technique and together with the doctor will be decided what will be most appropriate.

Lives Away from the Clinic?

If you live far from the clinic I-QMED, do not worry, about 70% of those undergoing surgery are outside the Algarve or the country.

Many patients seek to make more extensive pre-operative morning, afternoon is done in the same treatment and return home.

We can also consider people who prefer to enjoy a mini-vacation, organize your stay, so go home at the end of two or three days.

Computed microscope for check-ups at a distance

Since April 2007, I-QMED Clinic offers patients the possibility that some check-ups after surgery are not performed in the Clinic, but with a microscope to the Internet.
The patient did not have to sit for hours in the car or train so that they may make the check-up 3 or 4 times after surgery. ... See more

First Consultation

• Your eyes will be subject to a number of tests.

• Following a computer simulation based on their compatibility for a laser treatment will be evaluated.

• The methods of treatment you will be notified.

• Advice will be referred to the ophthalmologist.

• You will be will deliver several documents.

• All information is available on CD (can ask for the cd that will be mailed "Free")

• This CD contains an extensive explanation about the various aspects of the treatments and procedures (longer than one hour).

• There must be an interval of at least one week between the first consultation and treatment, being able to discuss this item in specific cases, such as distance of residence.

Lasik

- A vacuum ring is placed over the cornea. Has a sense of pressure that is sometimes described as uncomfortable. The increased eye strain superior to blood pressure can cause temporary "dark." Once the ring is removed the light back.
• The microqueratótomo instrument that makes the flap is placed on a sliding device. Hear a sound and within seconds the flap is made. The microqueratótomo and ring vacuum will be removed below.

• With a spatula the flap is turned back.
• The system follows the eye, the eye-tracker is activated. This follows all movements of the eye thereby ensuring that all laser shots go to the right place. Small eye movements will be tracked accurately. Large movements in the laser stops and restarts only after being back in the right place.

• The treatment takes 1-2 minutes, depending on the correction to be made.
• After laser treatment, the cornea is cooled and carefully cleaned. The flap is replaced and usually after 3 minutes, the flap is fixed in the bottom layer. No need for points.
• After treatment will sit again in the waiting room, after about 30 minutes, the eyes are checked. If all is well you can put the sunglasses and go home.

Lasek

• A small quantity of diluted alcohol is applied in a ring that was previously placed on the cornea.
• After a few seconds, the alcohol is removed.
• The epithelium is not removed, but placed alongside. In this respect, the treatment is similar to lasik treatment, but in this case will not be cut, but dragged.
• The eye tracking system is activated and the laser treatment continues as described above.
• After treatment is placed on a contact lens, leaving it for 2-3 days on the cornea, after which the scar is almost regenerated.
• The vision will be around 40%, is still not enough to drive a car.
• Three days later, the contact lens is removed by us or are habiuado dealing with contact lenses can you withdraw it own host. If his residence is far from the clinic have a system of cameras that can be used in your home, checks may be done remotely and regularly. Obviously not putting aside his visit to the clinic within a certain time to check up more thoroughly.

EQLASE

•EQLASE is similar to LASEK. The epithelium is removed by a micro-sponge or spatula. This approach is characterized by reduced risk.
• After the instrument that follows the eye is activated and the laser treatment is performed. • A layer of anesthetic gel is applied and disappears with a blink of the eyelid. To avoid discomfort is placed a contact lens that remains on the eye for 2-3 days.

• During a check of the contact lens is removed by either us or you at home.

• The pain or discomfort may occur for a period of 12-14 hours. On average will be for one day.
• Good sight after days of treatment is followed by a temporary decrease during 3 days.
• The view varies between 80% and 40%.
• There is blurred vision, mild and even severe during 50-10 days.
• There is slight blurred vision for a period of two months.
• Can hinder you day to day during this period.
• Sometimes it may prevent you from working for a few days.
• You can make the driving a car.

In the operating room can expect the following

Together with them the focalizations laser will be controlled in this way we avoid mistakes and give you the certainty that the correct data will be used. While lying (a) the bed of operations receive anesthetic drops in his eyes, these are the same as those used in the first query. The drops have an effect on the eye, not on skin, so you will feel the insertion of the instrument to keep the eye open during treatment. Do not try to close the other eye because then it increases the possible discomfort caused by the tool. Before starting, we'll show you who feels nothing. Feel, will be applied over a drop.

After treatment

• Continue to implement the Dexaval drops three times daily (beginning 2 days before treatment and continues for a period of 10-15 days after treatment), or according to doctor's instructions.

• Avoid strenuous exercise. Should temporarily avoid contact sports or balls, is not known which period of time it takes until the flap (LASIK) is fixed.

• You can bathe and go to the hairdresser at ease.

• You can not dip your head in pools with chlorine during the first three weeks.

• Avoid rubbing your eyes tightly, yet can massage gently.

• You can not use mascara for two weeks.

• Reduced vision can hamper the activities of day-to-day, carrying, take some days off. Important administrative activities can be difficult in the first 14 days.

• You can travel by air the same day.

• The vision can vary between 80% and 40%.

• The first day will want to stay in a dark room.

• Grant of up to three months of recovery.

• For the final results irregular, just past three months can be considered a re-treatment.

Influences the outcome

• their expectations in relation to treatment outcome.

• The accuracy of their decisions on the best visual correction.

• Hyperopia is always harder to correct than the short-sightedness.

• A graduate of the spherical aberration.

• The graduation of its cylindrical aberration, high rollers can return.

• The curve and the shape of the cornea.

• The flexibility of the cornea.

• composition and temperature of the ambient air at the time of treatment.

• A critique of subjective fluency test, which is the calibration of the laser.

• The setting of "eye-tracker."

• The amount of fluid in the cornea.

Some risks of laser treatment

• Correction to be more

• Correction to be less

• Relapse

• Alternating Vision

• Loss of contrast

• Formation of scar

• Inflammation of the cornea

• Degeneration of the cornea (keratoconus)

• Astigmatism caused

• The difference between the correction of the left eye and right

• Halos and other optical effects

• Night vision disturbances

• Decentering

• Problems epithelium regressive

• Sediment in the cornea

• Corneal Ulcer

• Lamela damaged if LASIK

• Cut asymmetrical in the case of LASIK

• Deterioration of the cornea where LASIK

• Growth of the epithelium to the interior in the case of LASIK

• In the worst case, permanent complaints.

Before treatment should be aware of the following

• Stop using contact lenses before treatment, if necessary (3 days for soft lenses and rigid lenses for one week).

• Do not come alone. Although the treatment is somewhat cumbersome, it will influence their mental condition and may thus constrain the ability to drive. Public transport is also not advisable because of the discomfort and tear production significantly after treatment.

• Do not wear makeup around the eyes. Must be removed before treatment because small particles can cause infection.

• Wear comfortable clothing. Avoid wool and clothing with lots of loose fibers, they can pollute the area of treatment.

• Do not drink alcohol the night before and the day of treatment. On the day of treatment does not wear perfume, deodorant, chewing gum or other media assets with smells. These may affect the air between the laser and your eye.

• Organize your method of payment - no later than the day of treatment.

• Shortly before the treatment will be given a gown, a cap and a protective shoe.

• Skin around the eye is clean and the first drops of anesthesia will be applied to the eye.

Implant Intraocular Lenses

The implantation of intraocular lenses occurs when given the characteristics of the laser eye is not recommended. Usually people with a high degree, with pronounced astigmatism or have an insufficient corneal thickness is recommended this option.

The lens implant has some advantages and disadvantages compared with the treatment laser. The lens implant is made inside the eye, or is more invasive and may be a higher risk of infection, however this is controlled with antibiotics before and after surgery. It is noted that an advantage lies in the fact that the laser removed tissue to the eye, or tissue that leaves no longer around, while the lens implant is reversible, that I mean that if by chance you need is possible that the eye returns to graduate students who have previously had, simply remove the lens that was implanted.

ICL lens for correction of myopia and / or high astigmatism

This lens was specially developed for the treatment of patients with myopia and astigmatism. The Visian ICL is available for patients with myopia between-and-4.0dpt 20.0dpt and 1.0dpt until 6.0dpt astigmatism.

The Visian Toric ICL comes with the latest technology in terms of calculation and implant. This technology allows doctors, not only to measure the astigmatism and myopia, but also developed a diagram with information about the position to be implanted and which shall be attached to the lens at the time of implantation.

The intraocular lens is injected, which has three advantages:

The intraocular lens is inserted into the eye through a small incision, ensuring

an optimal and speedy recovery. (not usually necessary points)

- Time of surgery very short

- Limited risk of contamination through contact with tissues outside the eye.

To Reflect ...

It is important to realize that a person using glasses for many years, if you feel that the vision is no longer 100% can easily resort to the optometrist and acquire a degree of glasses more updated.

After a laser treatment might be one of those people. But in your case will have to adapt to the reality which is not always easy, requiring some willingly ...
